Cuchulainn's eyes saw only war;
his mistress's: blood and death.
Blind he was to the charms of youth;
his own youth founded in gore-lust.
Here stands the fairest Findbhair,
a daughter of Scorn and Scathe
sent to appease or to recompense Ferdia,
a trick in the pale morning light.
For her mother's ruse and her trouble
she was cursed by luck to be set
ageless to the wheel of the skies,
heedless beyond the world's ken.
